Earlier this week I ordered a full weeks groceries from my
laptop at home, on my couch, at midnight; the next day, my watch told me that
my groceries were ready to be picked up! I drove 2 mins down the street; Walmart tracked my phone and knew when I was there to pick them up, brought
them to me and the whole exchange took mere minutes of my time. As a busy lady
I am thrilled that, what used to take hours, can now take little to no time.
These new conveniences can be incredible and a huge help, however, they can also
be a ploy from satan to enable reclusive tendencies and keep us in our own
little comfort zone. Now, as a lover of online grocery pick up, I cringe to
think it could be a bad thing but it has completely taken a huge chunk of human
interaction out of my week. I must be very careful to not confuse convenience
with comfort. Getting out in the world and among people is what gives us
opportunity to love people and to witness to them of God's love, grace and
mercy. Being at the grocery store or drs office or whatever menial task you're
not thrilled about carrying out can be used as a chance to be an example of
peace and joy in a grumpy and sad world. Using these time saving methods can
sure help a busy momma out but I must not forget my duties to the kingdom of
God and that he commands us to go out into the world and preach the gospel.
"So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are
wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.Don’t act
thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do." Ephesians
5:15-17
